Not a Bookclub
Friendship is launching a new kind of book club with an emphasis on building community and conversations around a monthly theme. The books listed will be utilized as a supplement to our conversations and we will share other resources with one another as well! We understand it can be hard to squeeze reading time in these days, so whether you’ve read the book all the way through or not, you’re invited and encouraged to attend the discussion!
These discussions will be hybrid, meaning you can join us in person or online! We will meet in person at 5150 N Northwest HWY Chicago, IL 60630. Enter under the “Friendship” sign! Snacks will be provided. If you’re joining us online, head to https://bit.ly/nabcfcp to join the Zoom room.

NFAH is a grassroots community group supporting affordable, accessible housing on Chicago’s Northwest Side, and beyond. Friendship Community Place and Friendship Presbyterian Church join NFAH to work towards making our community more accessible, inclusive, vibrant, and compassionate. FPC is a founding member of NFAH. Pride Month Kick Off Concert with Flamy Grant!
FLAMY GRANT
The shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen returns to Friendship Presbyterian Church in Chicago! The award-winning and Billboard-charting drag artist from western North Carolina reached the #1 spot on the iTunes Christian Chart with her debut album Bible Belt Baby, which was also nominated for Best Pop Album at the San Diego Music Awards, and was named one of the Top Ten Queer Country Albums of 2023 by Rainbow Rodeo Magazine. Her single “Good Day” also debuted at #20 on the Billboard Christian digital sales chart, while her recently released sophomore album “CHURCH” has already reached #8 on the iTunes Country Chart.

Chef Kristin from School House Kitchen will guide and direct caregivers and children as they work together to mix up masas of several colors, press tortillas, and finally add their own artistic touch to them before cooking them on the griddle.

Northwest Side Queer Gathering: Potluck!
We’re launching Northwest Side Queer Gatherings with a Queer Potluck and Meetup. This is an all-ages, family friendly event and an opportunity to connect with one another for the first time or deepen our connections. We know current realities can make us feel isolated and alone and these gatherings are meant to ground us in queer joy and remind us that we are not alone!
This gathering is a social gathering hosted by local queers who are part of the Friendship Presbyterian Church and Morton Grove Community Church, and this is a secular, non-religious community event.
You are invited to bring a dish to share and to arrive exactly as you are!
