Not A Book Club
Friendship’s Not a Book Club is back! We emphasize building community and conversations around a monthly theme. The books listed will be utilized as a supplement to our conversations and we will share other resources with one another as well! We understand it can be hard to squeeze reading time in these days, so whether you’ve read the book all the way through or not, you’re invited and encouraged to attend the discussion!

Volunteer Training
There are many ways to plug into Friendship as a volunteer! We have three teams that welcome regular volunteer support. This includes our Kitchen Krewe, Our Community Care Crew and our Garden Crew. We also have pop up events and opportunities from Food Rescue to Neighbor Nights that are flexible and accessible to folks with more restrictive schedules. Join us to learn more and build capacity as we continue to care for one another when human connection and community support are vital!

Finance & Investments Team Meeting
The Finance & Investments Team is responsible for the drafting of and oversight of annual budgets, regular accounting, our investment portfolio, financial planning, and stewardship and fundraising campaigns. Neighbors for Affordable Housing Meeting
NFAH is a grassroots community group supporting affordable, accessible housing on Chicago’s Northwest Side, and beyond. Friendship Community Place and Friendship Presbyterian Church join NFAH to work towards making our community more accessible, inclusive, vibrant, and compassionate. FPC is a founding member of NFAH. Workshop Overview
Creation As Sustenance & Resistance
A collaboration workshop from Chicago Regional Organizing for Antiracism (CROAR) + Friendship Community Place
The current political climate in the U.S. has many of us feeling despondent, indignant and overwhelmed. It is important that in times like these we prioritize grounding ourselves and cultivating joy; our imagination can be an amazing resource for this. Engaging in collective and creative processes make a way for us to share our experiences, trials and visions; essentially allowing us to be known in ways that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. This gathering will provide opportunities to engage food, hospitality, art and music in ways that will cultivate the hope, fortitude and community that we need to continue to champion the restoration of all creation. We believe this time together will be a powerful medium to sustenance and resistance.
You'll spend the day immersed in one of three tracks — choose the one that calls to you:
Visual Art-Making as Resistance - Activate & strengthen our imagination for the sake of disruption and creation. (12 spots)
Soundtrack for our Tiny Revolutions- Cultivating joy and connection through music. (8 Spots)
The Subversive Table – Cooking, Baking & Hospitality as Creative Resistance (6 spots)

Neighbor Nights: BINGO!
We’ve been listening to the needs and ideas our neighbors and 5150 and in the NWSide Community and we’ve heard that y’all would love a chance to gather around fun activities and events such as Bingo, dancing, karaoke, game, or movie nights. In collaboration with some of you, we’re launching a new programming series: Neighbor Nights!
These events are free to the public and are meant to be a lowkey way to relax, hang out, and get to know your neighbors at 5150 and in our far NWSide neighborhoods! We’re kicking things off with BINGO in May! If you would like to help organize, sponsor or co-host upcoming Neighbor Night, email us at info@fpcchicago and let us know.
